Liposuction removes stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise, refining the contours of the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms and other areas. At The Sculptique Aesthetics in Mumbai, our surgeons use modern techniques—including tumescent and, when appropriate, high-definition liposuction—with attention to safety and natural-looking results. Liposuction is a contouring tool, not a weight-loss procedure: it is best when you are at or near your target weight with localised fat that does not respond to lifestyle changes.
Whether you want to slim the waist, smooth the thighs or refine multiple areas, a detailed consultation helps us recommend the right approach and set realistic expectations. Liposuction can also be combined with other procedures such as tummy tuck or fat transfer (e.g. Brazilian butt lift).
What it is
Liposuction uses thin cannulas (small tubes) inserted through tiny incisions to break up and suction fat from targeted areas. Tumescent liposuction involves injecting a solution of local anaesthetic and fluid into the fat before removal; this reduces bleeding, improves comfort and can allow larger-volume liposuction with local or light sedation. The fluid is then suctioned out along with the fat. Other techniques may be used depending on the area and your surgeon's preference; the goal is always safe, even contouring.
Liposuction does not remove skin or tighten muscles. Good skin elasticity allows the skin to shrink back over the new contour; if you have loose skin, a procedure such as a tummy tuck or thigh lift may be recommended instead of or in addition to liposuction. The removed fat can be discarded or, when appropriate, processed and used for fat transfer to add volume elsewhere (e.g. buttocks, breasts, face).
At The Sculptique Aesthetics we assess your skin quality, fat distribution and goals. We will explain which areas we can treat, the expected recovery and how to maintain your result with a stable weight.
Who it's for
Ideal candidates for liposuction are adults at or near a stable weight with localised fat that does not respond to diet and exercise. Good skin elasticity gives the best contour; if skin is very loose, we may recommend a skin-removal procedure in addition to or instead of lipo. Good candidates are in good general health and have realistic expectations: liposuction refines shape but is not a substitute for weight loss.
We assess your areas of concern—abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back, etc.—and discuss how much improvement we can achieve. If you are planning significant weight loss, we usually advise reaching a stable weight first. During your consultation in Mumbai we will examine your body, discuss your goals and explain the technique, recovery and how to maintain your result.

- Smoother silhouette with natural-looking results
- Possible fat transfer to add volume elsewhere (e.g. BBL)
- Long-lasting result with stable weight; fat cells removed do not return
- Small incisions and minimal scarring when healed
- Option to combine with tummy tuck or other procedures

Recovery & results
Bruising and swelling are normal and peak in the first week or two. A compression garment is typically worn for several weeks to support healing and reduce swelling. We will advise on garment use, wound care and when you can shower and resume light activities. Most people return to light daily activities within one to two weeks and to full exercise within a few weeks, depending on the areas treated.
Final contour is visible once swelling has subsided—often by four to six weeks for a good sense of the result, with further refinement over several months. Fat cells that are removed do not grow back. Remaining fat cells can still expand if you gain weight, so a stable weight helps maintain your result. We will give you a clear aftercare plan and follow-up schedule.

Frequently asked questions
Fat cells removed by liposuction do not grow back. The remaining fat cells in treated and untreated areas can still expand if you gain weight, so a stable weight helps maintain results. The treated area often remains relatively slimmer compared to before.
Liposuction removes fat only; it does not remove excess skin or repair muscles. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and can repair separated muscles (diastasis recti). If you have loose skin or muscle separation, a tummy tuck (with or without lipo) may be recommended. We will advise at your consultation.
Multiple areas can often be treated in one session (e.g. abdomen, flanks and thighs), depending on the volume of fat and your safety limits. Very large-volume liposuction may be staged. We will recommend the best approach for you.
Light walking is encouraged early. Strenuous exercise is usually avoided for a few weeks to reduce swelling and protect healing. We will give you a clear timeline based on the areas treated and your progress.
Yes. Fat removed by liposuction can be processed and injected into another area—e.g. buttocks (Brazilian butt lift), breasts or face—to add volume. We will discuss this option if it fits your goals.
