Brazilian Butt Lift

A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) uses your own fat—harvested via liposuction from the abdomen, flanks or thighs—to add volume and shape to the buttocks. At The Sculptique Aesthetics in Mumbai, our surgeons follow strict safety protocols: fat is injected only into the subcutaneous (fat) layer and not deep into muscle, which greatly reduces the risk of serious complication. The result is a natural, long-lasting contour and smoother donor areas.

You need adequate donor fat for a meaningful result. A detailed consultation helps us assess your donor sites and goals and explain what to expect from recovery and fat survival. We take safety and natural-looking results seriously.

What it is

A Brazilian butt lift has two parts: liposuction of donor areas (e.g. abdomen, flanks, lower back, thighs) to harvest fat, and injection of the processed fat into the buttocks in layers. Only fat is injected—no implants. The fat is placed in the subcutaneous plane (within the fat layer) and not deep into the gluteal muscle; this technique is associated with a much lower risk of fat embolism and other serious complications. The goal is a fuller, shapely buttock with a smooth transition from the back and thighs.

A variable amount of transferred fat survives (often 60–80% in experienced hands). Some absorption is normal in the first few months; we may slightly overfill to account for this. Donor areas are contoured by liposuction, so you also get a slimmer waist or smoother thighs. At The Sculptique Aesthetics we assess your donor fat and buttock shape and explain the technique, safety measures and what to expect.

Who it's for

Ideal candidates have adequate donor fat (abdomen, flanks or thighs) for harvesting and want a fuller, shapely buttock without implants. Good candidates are at a stable weight, in good general health and have realistic expectations about fat survival and the need to avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for a period after surgery.

If you have very little donor fat, a BBL may not achieve the volume you want; we may discuss buttock implants as an alternative. During your consultation in Mumbai we will assess your donor sites and buttock anatomy, discuss your goals and explain the safety protocol, recovery (including no direct sitting) and expected results.

Benefits

  • Natural augmentation with your own fat; no implant
  • Smoother donor areas (liposuction) and fuller buttocks
  • Long-lasting result; fat that survives transfer is permanent
  • Safe technique: fat injected in subcutaneous layer only
  • Single procedure for contouring and volume
  • Customised to your anatomy and goals

Recovery & results

You must avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for a period (often several weeks) to protect the transferred fat and allow it to establish a blood supply. We will advise on special pillows and sleeping positions. Compression garments are typically worn on donor areas. Swelling subsides over weeks; a portion of the transferred fat may be reabsorbed in the first few months.

Final shape is visible once swelling has settled and fat survival is clear—typically by three to six months. Fat that survives is permanent. Weight loss can reduce the size of the buttocks (as with natural fat); stable weight helps maintain your result. We will give you a clear aftercare plan and follow-up schedule.

Frequently asked questions

When fat is injected only into the subcutaneous (fat) layer and not deep into the gluteal muscle, the risk of serious complication (such as fat embolism) is greatly reduced. Our surgeons follow strict safety protocols and use the correct injection plane. Your safety is the priority.

A variable amount of transferred fat survives (often 60–80% in experienced hands). Some absorption is normal. We may slightly overfill to account for this. Final volume is assessed after healing. We will discuss what to expect at your consultation.

Direct pressure on the buttocks can compromise blood supply to the newly transferred fat and increase the risk of complications. We advise using a BBL pillow and avoiding direct sitting for the period we specify. We will give you clear instructions.

BBL uses your own fat and can refine donor areas; it requires adequate donor fat and a period of no direct sitting. Implants give predictable volume without donor sites and do not require fat survival. Your surgeon will help you choose based on your body and goals.

Light walking is encouraged early. Strenuous exercise and direct pressure on the buttocks are usually avoided for several weeks. We will give you a clear timeline at your post-operative visits.

Choose a surgeon trained in plastic surgery with experience in BBL and who uses the safe subcutaneous-only injection technique. At The Sculptique Aesthetics our surgeons are board-certified and follow strict safety protocols. We encourage you to come for a consultation.
