Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose to improve proportion, symmetry and often breathing. At The Sculptique Aesthetics in Mumbai, our board-certified surgeons use both open and closed techniques so we can tailor the approach to your anatomy and goals. The aim is a nose that fits your face and looks natural—not overdone or “done”—and that breathes well.
Whether you wish to correct a hump, refine the tip, narrow the bridge or improve airflow, a detailed consultation helps us recommend the right technique and set realistic expectations. Rhinoplasty is often combined with chin augmentation for a balanced profile. We take the time to understand your concerns and design a plan that fits your face and your expectations.
What it is
Rhinoplasty can change the size, shape, bridge, tip and nostrils of the nose. In open rhinoplasty a small incision is made under the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils), and the skin is lifted to expose the nasal structure. This gives full visibility and control for more complex changes—refining the tip, correcting asymmetry or revising previous surgery. In closed (endonasal) rhinoplasty all incisions are inside the nostrils, so there is no external scar; this approach can work well for smaller refinements when the surgeon has good access.
The goal is a nose that is in proportion with your face, with a natural-looking bridge, tip and base. We can reduce a hump, narrow a wide bridge, refine a bulbous or drooping tip, adjust nostril size and improve symmetry. When a deviated septum or other structural issue affects breathing, septoplasty can be combined with rhinoplasty to improve airflow. We do not over-resect: removing too much structure can lead to a collapsed or unnatural look and breathing problems. Balance and function are priorities.
At The Sculptique Aesthetics we assess your nose from the front, side and base, and discuss your goals in detail. We may use imaging to illustrate approximate changes. Recovery and the timeline for seeing final results are explained so you can plan accordingly.
Who it's for
Ideal candidates for rhinoplasty are healthy adults—or older teenagers whose nasal growth is complete—who want to correct a hump, wide or drooping tip, asymmetry or breathing issues. Good candidates have realistic expectations: rhinoplasty can improve proportion and refine the nose, but it cannot give you a different person's nose or guarantee a specific celebrity look. Skin thickness, cartilage strength and your ethnic and facial features all influence what is achievable.
A consultation includes discussion of your concerns (appearance, breathing or both), your medical history and any previous nasal surgery or injury. We examine the inside and outside of the nose and may order imaging if we need to assess the septum or sinuses. We also discuss whether chin augmentation would improve your profile, as combining both is common. You should be in good health and not smoke (or be willing to stop before and after surgery) to support healing.

Recovery & results
A splint is usually worn on the nose for about a week to protect the new shape. Swelling and bruising are normal and peak in the first few days; bruising often fades within two weeks. We will advise on head elevation, wound care and when you can gently blow your nose. Stitches inside the nose may dissolve; any external suture is removed when the splint comes off.
Most patients return to light activities within a week or two and to normal social and work life within two to three weeks. Strenuous exercise and contact to the nose are avoided for several weeks. Swelling, especially at the tip, can take many months to fully resolve—the nose may look refined at one month but continue to narrow and define over six to twelve months. Final shape is typically visible by six to twelve months. Results are permanent; the nose heals in the new structure. We will give you a clear aftercare plan and follow-up schedule.

Frequently asked questions
Open rhinoplasty uses a small incision under the columella and gives full visibility of the nasal structure; it is often used for more complex changes, tip refinement and revision surgery. Closed rhinoplasty uses only internal incisions and may suit smaller refinements. Your surgeon will recommend the best approach for your anatomy and goals.
Yes. When a deviated septum or other structural issue affects breathing, septoplasty (often combined with rhinoplasty) can improve airflow. We assess your airway during your consultation and may order imaging. Functional and cosmetic changes can be done in one operation.
Initial results are visible after the splint comes off. The nose continues to refine as swelling subsides. Most of the final shape is apparent by six months; subtle changes can continue up to a year, especially at the tip. We will explain the healing timeline at your visits.
With closed rhinoplasty there are no external scars. With open rhinoplasty the incision under the columella heals to a fine line that is difficult to see. We use careful technique and closure to minimise scarring.
Yes. Rhinoplasty is frequently combined with chin augmentation to harmonise the profile. Both can be performed in one operation under one anaesthetic. Improving nose and chin together often produces a more satisfying result than either alone.
